Two miracles

I had to post this story because I want everyone to be in prayer for one of my best friends. Kendra and I have grown up together, and her and her husband still live in the Chicago area. They have wanted kids for quite awhile now and God blessed them with TWINS! They were due June 30th but on March 21st, Kendra started having stomach pain, and went into labor. It is a miracle that these two babies made it, almost 3 months premature. And that Kendra made it- her uterus burst. They are SO TINY and by the grace of God they are fighting to make it, but please PRAY for them during this crazy time and click on the link to read up on their story. I really appreciate your prayers!

Don't Quit!

I'm horrible at blogging. Maybe someday I'll be better at this. I really do LOVE writing, I think it's just a time thing, but I apologize for everyone who even reads this pitiful blog right now. ANYWAY, I wanted to give an update of what's been happening this spring (though it feels like winter right now) in Northwest Arkansas.

We just got back from our NES springbreak mission trip to Memphis a few days ago. 150 Jr. High kids serving in the inner city- AWESOME experience, and yes, a little crazy as well. We broke up into 9 different groups and each group was assigned to a different part of the city to do ministry and service projects. Most groups went to a gym in their neighborhoods where the kids would come after school to hangout. The gyms are a part of a program called MAM-Memphis Athletic Ministries, and are run by believers who are trying to reach these kids for Christ. It's an AWESOME ministry idea and GOd is working to change this city! Our jr high kids did INCREDIBLE- working hard to clean up the streets and neighborhoods and then to show Christ's love on the kids! Many got to share their testimonies of how God is working in them and remind these kids that He has a good plan for their lives! Our group got to walk the streets and meet people and pass out gospel tracks and then lead a couple bible studies at night with the kids. There is SO MUCH JOY that comes from pouring ourselves out for others!

I learned SO MANY THINGS in Memphis from the incredible speakers there from their testimonies! It is always hard to come back to 'reality', but the best encouragement they gave us was 'Don't QUIT!' Don't stop doing what you are doing here when you get home! Every day we are in the mission field. Is Jesus the most important person in your life? Then you will tell others about him!

One of my biggest challenges in talking to people I don't know and being able to share my faith with them. I use the excuse of being shy. But I need to die to myself and remember HE IS WORTH IT! And others need to know He is the only way to the Father! Lord, help me be bold!

I read this morning where Christ says, "If any of you wants to be my follower, you must put aside your selfish ambition, shoulder your cross daily, and follow me. If you try to keep your life for yourself, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for me, you will find true life." Luke 9:23. I've heard this many times, but love when it comes to life for me. A speaker in Memphis explained our life as believers like the game of Uno. You don't win by having the most cards. You win by giving your cards away, getting rid of them. We win spiritually when we give our lives away! It seems like such a contradiction to the world's way of living. That is why my mind has to be renewed DAILY with the truth of God's word.

I Peter 3:15 But in your hearts, set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope you have. But do this with gentleness and respect."
